ESEA Sisters Summer Festival
From the organisers -
ESEA Sisters is hosting our first summer festival for our community and for allies!
ESEA Sisters is an international community of women, trans, non-binary and genderqueer folk of East and South East Asian (ESEA) heritage.
We're inviting those from the East and South East Asian community and our allies to join us on Sunday 17th July for the ESEA Sisters Summer Festival to showcase and celebrate our culture. We've packed the day with music and art performances, fantastic ESEA food, creative workshops, AMAZING raffle prizes, a mahjong club, and drinks galore!
This summer celebration will raise funds for two charities:
• Hackney Chinese Community Services (HCCS), serving the local East and South East Asian community, providing a wealth of services for the local community to the ESEA community as well as allies.
• Southeast and East Asian Centre (SEEAC) is a community organisation for and by migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum from Southeast and East Asia and people of these heritages living in the UK.
We've partnered with My Neighbours the Dumplings who will be helping to run a mahjong club! For the unfamiliar, mahjong is a traditional Chinese tile game, which requires skill, strategy and luck to win. If you are a beginner, or your skills are a little rusty, don't worry - we will have dedicated helpers on hand.
In addition to the mahjong club, the family-run Chinese restaurant will be returning to their pop up roots with a one-off dumpling stall. Alongside an array of dumplings, they'll also be serving up salads and noodles.
If you've got a sweet tooth, you'll be pleased to hear that the wonderful Hoko London will be offering both sweet and savoury Hong Kong-style french toast, and you can grab a silky-smooth cup of milk tea or lai cha to wash it down with.
Please visit the Eventbrite link below for the artist lineup and ticket details. Tickets for this workshop will be released week commencing 13th June, and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
We will be hosting a raffle with fantastic prizes! All proceeds go towards HCCS and SEEAC. See the Eventbrite link for further details.
