Bodies & Buildings: An Exhibition

Izy Dixon will be holding her second exhibition at The Factory. The exhibit (free entry) will be accompanied by not one but two speed drawing workshops (Tickets available via the Eventbrite link below).

From the artist, Izy Dixon:

Who?

"I'm an illustrator by trade - Studied Illustration (BA Hons) at Cambridge School of Art.
By day I'm a communications consultant for sustainable brands, looking after copywriting, social media, websites, photography, illustrations and events.
I live in Canonbury with my magical daughter, Delilah, 3.

Why?

I began drawing again a few years ago, during the evenings after my daughter had gone to bed and I was immediately reminded of the therapeutic effects drawing and being creative can be, especially for a creative mind. I posted a couple on Instagram and they were sold within minutes. Since then, I have had the most amazing commission requests for the inks and over the last year have been commissioned several times to draw women during their later stages of pregnancy - such an intimate time to commemorate, each one is incredibly special.
I had my first solo exhibition last year in Chelsea - always a gamble, especially during lockdown, but it was an amazing space and the loveliest response. I wanted to push myself again this year, to keep the momentum going and to show the different feel of the pieces over the past year. Being in Canonbury, The Factory has been a memorable nearby spot for a while now and when the space became available it felt like the perfect spot for the next show.

What is it about?

The mix doesn't have an in-depth story behind it - I love the ink and stick feel for the buildings and love how everyone has a favourite, or a story behind buildings they spot. The nudes have more range and evoke different energies, feelings, emotions - celebrating all bodies, all curves, and all that a body can do and enjoy.
I hosted drawing events in Clerkenwell last year and they had a hilarious response - It was so great to get people together again, who had never drawn, who were itching to try new things, combined with more established creatives who enjoyed the pace, challenge and atmosphere of the events, so I'm looking forward to bringing the same fun to these evenings!"
